The cans Tower: Episode 1

We're gonna have a castle!

Footballs should never be around cans
... even if they are smaller that a real ball

The tower is growing
... and is becoming more of a castle

It's a little weaker than we thought it would be:

After a collapse
We wanted to count the cans

And by the way we may see some great photos:

Get ready for moving
We're about to move into a new office and we want our cans to come with us.

We're moving in
We're moving in "Evrotur" business center.

This is going to be the PHP developers' room.
And we've got the cans with us!

ReBuilding the tower
We moved in the company's new office. After we're done with arranging our desks we have to get the cans back in shape...
Lubo did it again
He's done it before. And when only three or four cans go down it's not worth it shooting. This time there is a lot of damage. And he is about to rebuild it to the top.

The tower has been redesigned

The new design (4 cans of Coca-Cola, 1 can of whatever else) makes great diagonal lines through the height of the whole thing.
Scheduled demolition of the cans tower
It's day 34 in the office. You cannot see that but the back of the tower is pretty ruined. More than 10 cans are down on the ground breaking the desks-pointing angle. Sasho tryed to repair it which only caused more damage (10+ cans).
After a short discussion we've decided to "deconstruct" the tower and rebuild it later.
More than 700 cans. How much would that cost if sold as aluminium?

Now we need to free some space for the reconstruction.
The corner between the desks is now free. This time there will be no pattern when putting the cans in the pyramid. Let's just keep it simple.

816

816 is the number of cans in the tower. Oh! And it's written on the tower itself.
969

Odd idea...
with not so odd results.

All the cans in the front of the tower stand on three other cans. That's why this way of building cans up is the most durable. We have tested many times that cans can stand still even if you remove one of those three cans.

The design is being tested to the max.

Sooner or later it whould have happened...
1140
Early January 2010. The tower grew a little higher. It is now 18 rows of cans. That's 1140 of them. We wonder how much those weight.

1330
Nobody expected the tower to grow that large. It is now made of 1330 aluminium soft drink cans...

... and still growing.
June 8, 2010
It is June 8. A new row has been added to the tower.

In numbers that makes:
- 1540 cans
- A little over 500 liters of soft drinks drunk
- A little less than 135 gallons
- A little over 2 meters of height
- Exactly 20 rows of aluminium-steel cans ordered in a triangular pyramid
And just to give you an idea of how tall that "monster" is:

...the big mostly red thing on the picture. What's next to it is just a regular developer.
Support The Tower
After Lyubo, Peter, Biser, Dimo and Max all joined the "Support The Tower" initiative the tower grew almost two rows higher. It now consists of 1907 cans.
2024

Another row has been finished. They are 22 now. 22 rows makes exactly 2024 aluminium cans. Impressive, a?
But shouldn't we do something about the looks of the tower? It is so chaotic now. We'll see...
Facade
Wonder how we add the numbers on the facade of the tower?
It has grown up to 2300 cans
It is made of 2300 cans now. It was 1540 exactly an year ago. Quite a pace this is.
